Zoe Schaeper

My work meditates on light and colour to represent the passage of time, using photographic practice to document the experiential feelings associated with moments of change. Inspired by the concept of mono no aware, or the awareness of impermanence, this work highlights the inherent beauty found in passing moments of the everyday. Within minutes during a sunset, different colour gradients and light play are presented, each image documenting a moment of this transience. The work encourages audiences to appreciate such moments as they occur and the emotional presence they hold, rather than recognising them in retrospect.
