A&D ANNUAL 2022

Alexa Papas

PolyChroma Reinvention' draws attention to the waste that generate as a society. Through upholstery, the project provides a practical example of how we can revive vintage objects and save them from landfill. Alexandra Papas has used digital printing and the colourful, kaleidoscopic art of marble dyeing to reinvigorate the original object designs, and show that old artforms can easily become modern again, increasing the lifespan of objects. Through the reuse of the old objects that would otherwise have been thrown away, Alexa was able to remove approximately 100 kilograms from a seemingly endless cycle of waste.
