A&D ANNUAL 2022

Bonnie Russell

‘Rockpool Vases’ is a series of biophilic, sculptural vases exploring the unique ecology and natural phenomena of the intertidal zone. They are heavily inspired by the shapes, textures and forms found within these natural ecosystems, developed through a process that relies heavily on observation and experimentation. The vases are formed using stoneware clay, hand-building techniques, and textured glaze to create tactile, organic forms that resemble the phenomena found within rockpool habitats such as coral, seaweed, and sea anemones.
