A&D ANNUAL 2022

Elijah El Kahale

A world obsolete of all organisms is one that has been exploited into depletion until all there is left is the semiotic of a living organism, such as a flower existing for no other purpose than to be a floating signifier framed in a digital tombstone. In this photo-sculptural work, Elijah El-Kahale 's work is an imagined world of bright colours, sculptural ruins of material still life objects photographed with medium format film, and framed within a LED illuminated perspex screen erected from a ceramic console. The synthetic flower resembles the idea of natural organisms before its extinction.
