A&D ANNUAL 2020

Imogen Hunter

Imogen Hunter’s research expands on her practice in graphics and interactive design. It focuses on the role school gardens play in facilitating healthier food environments for primary school aged children, including improving environmental knowledge, eco-literacy and poor eating habits. Surveys regarding current outcomes of school garden programs across the Sydney region evidenced widespread frustrations, most often pertaining to issues such as program facilitation, student engagement and garden design. The central aim of this research is to provide a digital tool that mitigates common nuanced barriers to integrating gardens into primary school education. The tool will empower educators with deeper knowledge and understanding necessary to navigate the complex processes of running a school garden program. It aggregates existing data and addresses centralised resource scarcity through providing a framework to make it easier for the end user to design a school garden.
