A&D ANNUAL 2022

Jasmine Cain

Jasmine Cain’s practice explores the confusing and overwhelming feelings that the artist associates towards her experience living with a chronic autoimmune condition. Jasmine has the desire to disorient in her works by creating a multi-sensory experience, intending to overwhelm, manipulate, and provoke anxiety within the viewer. This idea of affecting and drawing out both an emotional and a physical response is central to the artist’s practice. ‘I’m Confused’ is a large-scale installation work that uses old bedsheets, text and audio to create an environment which holds the emotions the artist identifies with their diagnosis.
