A&D ANNUAL 2020

Kate Alderton

Emerging from the frustration of not being able to facilitate conventional co-design workshops during COVID-19 lockdowns, this project reimagines co-design’s frameworks into an online space. Designers are provided with research on facilitating sustainability-focused co-design workshops when their stakeholders cannot meet in person. Kate’s provocation for an online workshop specifically tackles the issue of the café industry in Wellington and their disengagement with the New Zealand Government’s sustainability goals surrounding waste. This project updates co-design methods into the digital world, creating positive implications for the usability of the methodology during pandemics, while also generating wider implications for the future of co-design in the globally connected world.
