A&D ANNUAL 2022

Nic Narapiromkwan Foo

Nic Narapiromkwan Foo is a Thai/Chinese-"Australian" artist making and writing on stolen Gadigal Land. Familial and cultural histories are woven into her works, assembling labour, language, secrets, stories and recipes. Her parents owned a Thai restaurant, a place where she spent most of her childhood. Through the sculptural processes, her practice embodies the shared immigrant labour, both manual and emotional, of her parents—preparing, measuring, stirring, cooking, plating—as their labour becomes her own. Nic's practice is a collaboration with her parents through the inheritance of knowledge.
