A&D ANNUAL 2020

Sarvika Mishra

Sarvika Mishra's works explore the human-nature relationship through an Indigenous perspective. This particular animated piece tells the story of a sentient tree that teaches humans to live in cohesion with other living things to form a single harmonious spirit instead of further losing their connection with nature. The animation is informed by the making process of Indigenous artistic practices, including the making of natural, environmentally friendly dyes, organic patterns, narratives centered around nature, and a simplistic design inspired by the Warli and Gond tribes of Western and Central India, respectively.
