A&D ANNUAL 2022

Tami Tran

‘Waste Deep’ aims to raise awareness of the detrimental impacts of waste on the environment, specifically exploring the journey from waste to fashion. Within the work, waste is not only reclaimed traditionally through fabric construction processes, but also visually by highlighting the physical appearance of waste. Waste is photographed and positioned in a new light to display how discarded and useless items can be transformed into something valuable. The designs are printed onto recycled polyester fabric, made from collected plastic waste. With the increase of textiles waste in landfill, the project additionally explores the idea of multi-functional garments, offering over 28 ways of styling.
