A&D ANNUAL 2021

Yao Chen

Through air-dry clay construction and coloured pencil drawing, Yao Chen's practice explores how art can be used as a tool to create incorporeal consciousness into material form. Using handmade traditional Chinese rice paper and traditional drawing techniques, the drawings capture the light on the clay, expressing the energy frequency of consciousness projected onto the clay structure.
