A&D ANNUAL 2022

Yihong He

‘Dreamscapes’ is a hyper-realist artwork constructed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be perceived as a form of escapist fantasy where the viewer is momentarily extracted from reality, or as a confronting experience that aggravates existing anxiety. The outcome depends on user interpretation. Each dream featured belongs to a different age group of diverse identities, aiming to allow for as many responses as possible. ‘Dreamscapes’ avoids labelling the dream content as either good or bad, rather provides a platform for viewers to compare and seek connections. By doing so, Eva He hopes to mark a milestone of the pandemic and encourage everyone to reconcile with the past.
