A&D ANNUAL 2020

Lisa Myeong-Joo

Lisa Myeong-Joo’s practice explores connections between personal narrative and expanded poetic truth. Practicing in South Korea and India over the past five years has incited investigations into embodied meaning and opposites using collaborative and performative processes. Myeong-Joo’s project 'Between Mother and Moving is a Mountain Range' is an exploration into grief through a practice of wandering informed by the Daoist concept of Wu-wei. Transforming grief into tools to help us mourn loss, Myeong-Joo uses gesture, writing and photography to extend participatory invitations towards the shared creation of a restorative space of mourning.
