A&D ANNUAL 2021
Anne Levitch
Anne Levitch's artistic and curatorial practice is driven by her innate curiosity about subliminal human drives and responses, and their reflections in current cultural issues. There is a defined focus on the visual representation of embedded cultural memory, of societal attitudes and their evident traces. Responding to what she sees as a subconscious layering of cultural, community, family and personal scripts, through research, Levitch engages with the philosophical, the psychological, mythical and metaphysical influences of a broad heritage. She responds to these investigations with experimental 3D works, installations, drawing, print, photographic and video works. Aiming for exploration rather than statement, she loves a resulting ambiguity, that leaves interpretation open. She is actively involved in exploring the unseen, in attempting to make deeper issues more visible.
