A&D ANNUAL 2021
Jacqueline Pamela McIntyre
Jacqueline McIntyre's practice revolves around comic-style art, exploring the use of narrative to analyse different notions of everyday experiences. She utilises a range of techniques referencing the original comic masters, such as panelling, incorporation of text and bold outlines, creating woks with ink and alcohol markers on A1 card. Through the connection of imagery and text, Jacqueline examines different aspects of the everyday through recurring characters and narratives. The work ‘A leap into the lowbrow multiverse' critiques institutional classist systems and their affects on individuals from low-socioeconomic and working-class backgrounds. The work examines the stigmatisation and stereotyping of the working class across education, public transport, and working conditions. Two comic narratives create a thorough critique while placing the work within the 'lowbrow' art world, mimicking the style of movie release posters.
