Lucy Merrett
As an interdisciplinary practice, Lucy Merrett’s work sits at the intersection of jewellery, sculpture, and installation, and occasionally expands into moving image and photography. She seems to want to take the language of jewellery into the expanded space away from and outside the body to reference ideas about emplacement, individual connection and collectivity, and the nature of ‘things’. Her practice reflects processes and undertakings that are rooted in analogue construction and fabrication resulting in an object-centred approach to the exploration of concepts surrounding post colonial and deep ecology, the experience of migration, and thinking around the Anthropocene affects.
