Jasper Marsh-Cashman
Jasper Marsh-Cashman experiments with 3D design, virtual reality and other non-human agents with freedom and curiosity to creatively explore the unethical nature of contemporary surveillance practices. Jasper’s work is conceptually and thematically driven by historical and philosophical frameworks, such as Jeremy Bentham's Panopticon prison, Michel Foucault's extended theories of disciplinary power, and George Orwell's dystopian novel ‘1984’. In ‘Specularium’, the player embarks on a thought-provoking journey through a series of unique and unsettling environments. Each environment may evoke feelings of being watched, surveyed, controlled, and monitored, making the complex reality of surveillance visually and emotionally impactful.
