Nyah Willis
Nyah Willis's practice seeks to document the nuances that exist within our cultural identities. As a person of Thai and Australian heritage, their multimedia installations explore how the merging of Asian and Western cultures has become a site of cultural dissonance. To remedy these feelings, Nyah continuously engages in cultural investigations through the framework of family archives and maternal collaboration, opening a doorway into their mother's motherland. Drawn to found materials in both their raw and manipulated forms, Nyah’s practice explores how materials, like people, contain their own rich histories.
