Zac Tomaszewski

Zac Tomaszewski explores the experience of walking as unavoidably dictated by the fragmentation of land as capital. His work comprises a site-specific project that uses a variety of photographic methods to explore a specific site in Sydney’s Inner West suburb of Tempe and its relationship to capitalism. Through an expanded set of photographs and an artist book, Zac attunes to the nuances that govern the formation of this site due to its location—surrounded my major infrastructure which has isolated it from having a societal purpose. Through a practice that emphasises the phenomenological aspects of walking, witnessing becomes a tool for reclaiming the land from the chokehold of commodification.
