Zhen Zhang’s practice explores the tension between structure and a sense of self through collage and material experimentation. Moving away from digital methods, Zhen works with physical fragments of images and texts, assembling them into compositions that reflect the fractures of contemporary life. Drawing on existential thought, the work investigates how a sense of meaning can persist within systems of control—seeking clarity without resolution and meaning without illusion.
