This work explores the theme of grotesque and adornment. The idea of clashing incompatibilities and opposites. The forms explore the idea of how craft techniques are viewed within an artistic context. They are bizarre, surreal, and deformed and at the same time, they have human-like characteristics. Though they are unnatural and over decorated, they are also beautiful and tactile with the accumulation and clusters of various decorations. They are created with cheap, mass produced embellishments and the recycled fabrics. These material qualities are juxtaposed with the immense detail in the decoration, investigating with the idea of adding value through adornment and ornamentation.
