Ubiquitous, illusive, shared and personal – this space that we construct for ourselves is an accumulation, influenced by mythology, culture, childhood and physicality. The material elements in my work encompass various paradoxes such as the valuable and the kitsch, opacity and transparency, being and nothingness (the vessel and the void), inner and outer, containment and openness. Based upon my own experience of immigration, my nostalgia of a place that no longer exists, as well as a recent move to a new home, this work explores the fluid relationships between fiction and reality, the subjective and the objective.
